Sunday was an absolutely beautiful day. It’s sunny but a bit cool with the wind that blew across the lake. I had decided to go to church and enjoy the Easter service. Several people spoke about the meaning of the season, and I got to meet several more people. I was greeted warmly and kindly, which was nice.

Since the day was so beautiful, I decided to take myself out for a walk in Jönköping. Jönköping is 50 minutes by car up the freeway on E4. The freeway goes right into the city, but you can continue going right to Stockholm or left to Göteborg. Göteborg is only 1 hr 43 minutes, and Stockholm is 3 1/2 hours.

It sits at the bottom of lake Vättern. There are a lot of smaller lakes around as well, and I walked around one called Munksjö which is connected to the larger body of water. It is a beautiful city in the sunshine. I walked a bit and saw people out having a fika at the picnic tables. There were a lot of people out and about.

My mom and I had been here before about 10 years ago. We had eaten at a restaurant called twin cities. It is situated near the train station. There was a story about two twin brothers who were adopted by two families. They found each other and found out how similar they were. There is another restaurant in Minnesota, I believe, with the same name. I need to go back to refresh my memory. It has grown as we visited.

I did not eat at that restaurant this time as I found a place where I got fish and chips and could sit in the sunshine, but I plan to go back another day. There has been a lot of growth in this city. More waterfront restaurants and places to go. Most of the shops downtown were closed, but that was ok as I had nothing to shop for.

The rest of the week, I got caught up on paperwork, paid my estimated tax payments, and did some packing. My tax bill was less than expected, which is a relief, but we shall see when my accountant is done. I have until June 15th to file since I am living abroad. I am facing uncertainty once again but have an apartment booked in Tacoma, which is a start. One day at a time.
