Alvesta

Bonus blog this week. I am on the train with the scenery passing quickly as I travel from Värnamo to Malmö. I had a stop over in Alvesta. I have been there a few times at the train station but never had an opportunity to look around.

Family statue

It is considerably smaller than I expected. The center of town was much smaller than Värnamo despite it being a big interchange for trains in all directions. I took myself on a walk while I waited for my connecting train. I found the statue I had seen from things to do in Alvesta. It was one of two things I saw. The rest were in nearby cities.

Sometimes, when I wander, I just head in a direction and, as I feel moved, go this way or that. It almost always brings something interesting. I have a good sense of direction, but I figure if I get lost, I have GPS.

It is best when I don’t have expectations and am rarely disappointed. You never know what you are going to find around the corner. This way, I usually come across something unexpected. This time was no exception.

Old style Swedish buildings

I love seeing the Easter decorations in the closed shop windows. The feathers on tree branches are so colorful. They always make me smile. This adventure brought me to a group of old Swedish buildings in the traditional style and painted my favorite color.

Big yellow building

I also saw this very majestic yellow building, perched on a knoll, is now an office. It could have been a city building because of the large clock on the face of it. Now it is starting to get dark just after 8 pm. I love the longer days here. It is one bonus of being in Scandinavia. I will soon be at my destination. Traveling by train is so relaxing and gives one time to think, read, or talk to other passengers. Hope you had a good weekend.

  1. Very nice city. Always interesting buildings, even the red ones painted in Faluröd.
