Friendsgiving

This year I worked on Thanksgiving because my friend was sick so I filled in at La Soupe. It was fun. Sherelle and I got up at 3 am and I drove her to the airport and was back in bed by 5 am while she had a long flight ahead. It was good to have her with me. We got a lot done in 9 days.

Friday I made Thanksgiving dinner for 2 of my dearest friends in Malmö, Moa and Malin plus Moa’s son. It was really fun. They enjoyed the traditional dinner with turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and Apple crisp all turned out great. Reminds me of a Thanksgiving long ago when I turned the oven off and the turkey did not get done for family dinner. We scrambled for two ready made turkeys before our guests arrived but we had a nice turkey after they had gone.

We played a couple of games and enjoyed our time together. It was a great day and I will be forever grateful for these two friends who are there for me when I need them. I love that we are so close in proximity and that they wanted to have dinner together. I couldn’t have asked for a better time. That is one thing I am very fortunate with is I am blessed with the best friends and family.

Over the weekend I took out my Christmas things from last year and put them up along with a small tree I bought at IKEA and mom and dad got me an advent calender with ornaments so each day before Christmas my tree will get a new ornament until it is beautiful.

Today I went out to meet my cousins Christina and her daughter Vicki. It was a fun day. Not working tomorrow but I was invited to a birthday party on wednesday by another friend. I am thrilled to be invited. Who knows what the week has in store. One day at a time.

  1. It is beginning to look like Christmas at your place. Very nice with the stars Santas and lights. I am ready for advent too. We bought our tree this weekend. Need about 8ft tall and the prices have gone up. This year I paid $145. I think next year it will be plastic. Dec will be busy. I will have open house (gift items) for two weekends, Lucia at Swedish Club, Christmas party at Frihet Lodge and Christmas eve at our house.

  3. Great update!!
Good, dependable friends are the best!! That was quite the spread you provided!
Mom and I celebrated my brother’s bday yesterday…I have to say we were a little rusty at putting on the whole meal deal for guests!! (Girlfriend and her mom joined us) Mom put most of the food together. I did the “hardware”. Appy, salad, entree (Swedish meatballs requested by the bday boy) w sides, garlic bread and dessert.

  4. Nice work Jeanette, in putting that beautiful meal together and your decorated apartment looks lovely! Honestly it seems like you are always on the go and have so many wonderful things to do with so many people and then you through together a perfect American Thanksgiving. I think I can maybe count on one hand how many friends I have. But I’m just sayin, I don’t think I could do all that you’re doing. Although you do have extended family over there so that accounts for some of it. I know you appreciate them all as you often state. Anyway keep going…you’re doing good.

Did you ever fully get free of that fella? Hope so.

    Love, Kathleen
