It has been a whirlwind. We decided to go to Germany so we booked a 6 hr ferry ride to Rostock, Germany. I accidentally booked the opposite from Germany and back so had to rebook. Then last minute we decided to take the car and get a cabin because we were tired. We went to the cabin and slept a few hours since we had been up at 5 am and slept poorly. It was awesome!! The ferry ride was a bit bumpy going out because it was windy but calmed down as we neared Germany.

We drove to our hotel and checked in. It was difficult to communicate as they did not speak very good English. We parked the car and took the tram into town. The front desk told us we could pay for the tram with a card on the tram. Not so. We rode and got off where the ticket booth was and bought a day ticket.

We walked around town which was being invaded with a Christmas market but not until the weekend. It was still interesting. We went back to the hotel on the tram now with a ticket this time. It was very cold but sunny.

We wanted to eat dinner someplace and decided to see what the restaurant next door had to offer. After looking at the menu for 15 minutes the waiter told us they only took cash and we had none. We found this a lot. Expected it to be like Sweden. I was wrong.

The next day we ventured out and drove an hour to see this amazing castle. It was beautiful and fun. Helped Sherelle check off a castle on her bucket list. It was a good one. I ended up buying a couple postcards for the kids but had to buy 10 stamps to send two cards. Plus they only took cash at the castle. It was interesting. We felt better about this day.

We were glad we had the car and were ready to take the ferry back. We got back to Sweden about 9 pm to icy roads and bitter cold but it was a good day.

This morning we headed out to Göteborg. We stopped by another castle on the way and found out they were having a Christmas market. So we checked it out. We didn’t buy anything but it was fun to look.

Then we checked into our awesome hotel in Göteborg and went to Liseberg for their Christmas lights. It was amazing and fun but cold. We called it an early night and are tucked into bed for the night. More adventures tomorrow. Might get snow tonight, we shall see.
