Gravestones

Not a lot happening this week but I did manage to take a walk to folketspark which was only 7 minutes and met a friend for a picnic. I had the best falfal and hullomi there. We discussed politics as we were going to go and vote but I could not decide who I would vote for so instead I went home to see her cats. Afterwards I went by the graveyard with the interesting graves to take photos for you.

The graves are mostly well taken care of but one thing that struck was me they must have been very beloved. I saw cleaning cloths and mop pads nearby. They obviously spent a great deal of money and time to honor the departed.

Gravestones of granite, marble and huge plots. Some even had houses built to honor their loved ones. It is amazing. My guess is it must be quite a lot of money to build such a monument. It is quite impressive. I have seen something like it in Mexico but these were much grander.

Nearby my apartment there are three very large graveyards. I know some cultures do things differently and are buried according to their beliefs. It is amazing how clean everything was on the really big ones. I wonder how often they clean them. I enjoy seeing the difference between these fancy gravestones and those others.

It is definitely serene to walk through the graveyard. I like to think of all the people who have worked and lived before. I still have not been to my own father’s grave. It is much more humble. I am having a difficult time getting there because I have had some difficult feelings about it. We were not friends at the end of his life and it is almost an hours drive to get there.

Contrast to the others

Thursday it rained a great deal but Friday morning was lovely. Went to the library and took a walk because I woke up cross and needed to change my attitude. A bit of fresh air and a brisk walk usually does me good but I struggled today.

Slottsparken (castle park)

Could be my anti-depressants. I switched a couple weeks ago but recently ran out because my doctor did not have time to call and chat with me until Thursday, despite me me calling to let them know i would be running out. So now I have to start all over again or at least to some degree.

Sea buckthorn

I did go to IKEA for a few things and afterwards went and picked berries which are supposed to be rich in vitamins. This is what lifted my mood. I have to pull them off the branches and do something with them. They were very tart just off the bush. It will be interesting to see what they taste like when I have made whatever things I can.

Lunch at IKEA

In the evening I attended a Vasa meeting which ended up being a bit long but interesting. Got more history about Vasa than I have previously known. They have really nice dinners and cocktails if you want. This is my third time attending a function. We had 19 people at the meeting and then 7 people came afterwards to investigate the club. I was recognized as visiting from the USA from Norden Lodge #233 in Tacoma and Frihet Lodge #401 in Seattle because I belong to both. I enjoyed the conversations at our table. They always mix people around so we get to meet and talk to different people. Such a good idea to help keep things fresh.

Slottsparken

Some traveling coming up and voting here in Sweden and I have a friend coming from the US as well, lots of adventures to come. Stay tuned.
