The move is over and the keys have been turned into my old landlord. I cleaned it myself and saved a little money. If there hadn’t been a showing Sunday I would have let someone else do it, but since I had to have it clean anyway, figured I may as well do it all. Also I wouldn’t have been able to be finished with it until tomorrow afternoon if I had waited. This way I have the freedom to enjoy my new place without worrying about the other.

This neighborhood is very different from Hyllie. More people, more grafitti, more cars and more public transportation. I have learned how to get back to my old place in Hyllie, how to get to my job on Tuesdays and which direction I need to go to catch the busses so I don’t miss them.

Yesterday I got a ride to work but needed to ride the bus home. I stayed a little longer than I planned talking to a couple from my class and when I got out I realized I had no idea where the bus stop was. I soon discovered where after the bus passed by me and then stopped too far away for me to run to. I walked to the stop and waited 15 minutes for another bus. I had to change to one I hadn’t taken before and figure out where that stop was, which was easier. I like the bus app a great deal but when it comes to where the bus stop, is I am easily confused. I got off at the next stop and wandered around trying to get in the right direction which then got me home after 9 pm, an hour after I got finished with class.

Yesterday I did laundry in the washing room downstairs. That worked out well. It is just below my apartment. I took some things up to the attic (I did have help), which is 5 flights up. So lucky to have it and this apartment has far more storage than I originally thought. I am finding places for things rather quickly and feel very comfortable here already. The inner courtyard is very nice and it is fun to see people enjoying it. I do need to do some grocery shopping. There are two smaller stores really close by and a larger one 5 minutes from here. I got myself one of those wheeled shopping cart bags so I don’t have to carry it all on my shoulders.

Wednesday morning I went out and walked around the neighborhood. That was when I discovered the second small grocery store and another bus stop on another street behind my complex. I also stopped to look at this little play park. Mary Anderson park. She was an author who wrote books about this area. Very quaint little play ground with red and white houses to climb into, some wagons with horses, an old fashioned kitchen and more. Very fascinating.

I also discovered the train station which is about a 5 minute walk. There are lots of pizza places, probably 6 in a few blocks, a few falafel and kebab places and a couple of pubs and a big electronics store all in a 3 block radius. Also a hostel and a rehab place. I am sure I will find more things as I go out. The streets are not exactly straight so despite having a fairly good sense of direction I get turned around here.

The weather is definitely changing and the evenings are cooler and the days are getting shorter. Today was a beautiful sunny day of about 70 but the evening has quite a chill to it. So much to explore and experience in the outer parts of the city. Lots of different pockets of neighborhoods and yet not far from the center. Looking forward to exploring more.
