Exploring

Got dressed up for one final night at the festival. My hair is getting long enough to pull back a bit. Definitely going to miss how easy it is to go into town from this location and already miss the summer ticket where I could go anywhere in my county for one fee for 2 whole months. Now I have to buy tickets again when I travel. Got my money’s worth out of the ticket for sure!

On my last night in town for the festival I tried to visit as many music stages as possible. There were so many things at the same time it wasn’t possible to see everything but one of my favorites was the street brass band from Stockholm! They were fantastic and took me back to the wonderful band days in high school.

This stage below was a Swedish rapper who was pretty popular. It was fun to see. It is interesting to see the types of people who stop and listen. I feel that they are more open to experience different genres of music here.

This stage below had a woman from Texas playing country music and after her, a group from Somalia. There are so many different cultures and ethnicities here. I love hearing all the different languages spoken in this city. It really is multicultural. It is a bit sad to see Sweden changing so much but at the same time interesting to see how accepting the Swedish people have been.

It is still beautiful here. Fruit ripening on the trees and bushes and flowers still blooming as the small gardens explode with home grown vegetables in the community gardens nearby which have been tended by the locals living in nearby apartments.

I made myself a pizza with sun-dried tomatoes, pepperoni, chipped garlic and cheese. Turned out pretty good but larger than even two people could eat at once. Bicycled 20 minutes, each way, to get plums from a Vasa member and got a bonus with blackberries from the neighbors which became blackberry crisp. My rear is not used to the skinny seat on my bicycle for such a ride. I thought I had enough cushion but apparently not.

Had a barbecue with friends in a park in the town of Trelleborg. It is a 25 min train ride away. After we ate, we brought the leftovers home and went swimming in the Baltic Sea. It was fantastic! Long and shallow ledge where you had to go quite far out and could still stand. The temperature of the water was really nice which surprised me. I am glad I did it and hope to do it again.

Went for a walk in the after hours of Trelleborg. The restaurants were open and bustling with people but the shops were closed because it was after 5. It was my first time exploring despite having been to visit my friends many times. It was a lovely town close to the water. I hope to come back and explore some of the local shops. Quiet and peaceful.

There is still so much of Sweden I have not explored. Small quaint villages in the south but also up north where I have not been yet. I find it interesting how we go in our small circles between work, grocery shopping, etc and don’t always take time to really explore our local areas and notice the amazing things all around.

People comment I take a lot of photos but it is because to me there are so many new things which they may have walked past a 100 times. I do love exploring. There is so much interesting to see and do. I hope it inspires you to explore your area too or someplace new.

  2. Beautiful pictures. You sure get around visiting so many places. I also enjoying that everything is so clean. No garbage thrown all over like we so often see here.
