I have settled into my new place and have been out exploring my new neighborhood. Yesterday when I was out I happened to look up and see the lights above me. Perhaps I hadn’t been in that particular place after dark but it is nice. The mall, Emporia, is just across the street from this square. Below the square is where the underground trains are. The buses are also nearby. I enjoy seeing the different colors they put on the water tower. This is the tower I could see from my first apartment in Limhamn.

Just a block away from my building is another small square. in the white building, upper left is a Domino’s Pizza, although I hear pepperoni pizza is not the same as the USA, I have to give it a try. To the right is a path that goes for 5 to 10 kilometers depending on the route you take. Not sure which one I followed but it is lined with what I believe are cherry trees but we shall see when Spring comes.

Along the path, I saw this art installation but it could be a cell tower made to look like art. The leaves rotate with the wind which reminded me of a tree. Off to the left there appeared to be a playground and on the opposite side, they were building more apartments.

The dollar is still quite strong coming in over 9 Swedish Kronor to the US Dollar at the moment which means more buying power for me. Other things are also on my mind as I continue to think about ways to increase my retirement as the progression of the divorce continues. I want to be prepared and take control of what I can. Learning new skills instead of burying my head in the sand.

A little further down the path, past some farmland is this cute little village of homes. Along the way, I met some friendly people walking their dogs. I even got kisses from one. The thing about going out is you never know who you will meet. Lots of people pretend not to see you as they walk by but those whom I make eye contact with are generally friendly. I walk around in awe of the area so I think I have a smile on my face most of the time. It is so refreshing to be outside, even if it’s cold or rain and occasional snow (which is the current weather). I love it when it snows. It is the most beautiful time to be out but very hard to capture on camera.

I have been thinking more about a job as well and what kinds of things I may be able to do. The unemployment office is one place I have been viewing job postings but so far I have not seen anything which sounds interesting. Every job doesn’t have to be fun but some interest and use of my skills would be preferred. It is also a very different system here which is something new to learn, as usual.

Another week is coming to an end. I will be teaching a lesson in church tomorrow I need to prepare for. I will try to teach parts of it in Swedish but there will likely be a lot of English spoken on my part. I wish you all a pleasant weekend.
