Life is interesting. It certainly doesn’t always go as planned but sometimes it does. My weekend was busy and it feels like forever since you have had an update. I was able to go to my hometown of Växjö. My friend Nathalie and I discussed when we might have met. We think we must have been about 4 or 5 years old. That is a good long time. She started writing to me after I moved to Idaho and we have kept in touch all these years.

I had the opportunity to look around town, which I realized is small compared to Malmö where I currently live. I went to the beautiful Domkyrkan which is the twin-towered church above. It has beautiful glasswork inside because this region is known for its glass factories. Which is a fun thing to do if you ever come to Småland for a visit. Småland is also the region where IKEA started in the town of Älmhult. I went by the original IKEA on the train but new buildings have popped up so I could no longer see the store. They used to have a hotel as well. They had renovated it to look like the ones you see in America but they do have some different things as my friends Mario and Mark discovered when they went to one in Iceland recently.

A stunning piece of art.
Nathalie and Magnus were very kind to let me stay the night. I was weepy that day as we talked about my situation. Their little dog Lola gave me lots of love which I appreciated, including getting Nathalie up at 2 am to check on me. I certainly enjoyed the comfortable bed and the great companionship.

I traveled by train which took about 2 hours. Passed by the town my father used to live and the house I used to own. I had company from the sister missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Saturday evening. They brought me cookies and showed me how to get to church the next day. I took the bus, train, and walked to church but got a ride home from a family living close by. It was nice to meet some new people.

Monday I walked the 20 minutes to the town of Limhamn to set up my bank account. Easy peasy. Get in, transfer some money and I will be good to go! NOPE!! There were a lot of people waiting. Waited about 45 minutes for my turn as they are only open from 10 am – 1 pm during the week and closed on weekends. Anyway, I got to the desk, she printed out the forms I needed. She instructed me to fill them out and bring them up to book a time. They were in Swedish. I thought I got this! I did not. So I took another number to have my questions answered and thankfully a colleague came to help and we got it all settled and they will call me to book a time. So no bank account, yet.
I got lucky and booked a massage with my cousin Christina’s son Jonas. I have had a headache since Sunday morning (still there if you want to know). He really did a great job on my shoulders but now I feel like I had a hard BodyPump workout. I will go again next week. Hoping I will be less stressed so I can hold less tension there.
Today is my birthday. It was difficult to sleep last night. Not because I was excited like a child about all my birthday gifts because there will be none. I was forecasting and thinking too much about things that don’t really matter.

A few days ago I invited a friend of my father’s, Evior, out for dinner tonight. It has been a few years since we have seen each other. Also, I plan to view a larger apartment this morning. This is how I will spend my day, looking forward and not backward. Realizing where I have been but I have to move on. Acknowledging how far I have come and not letting the distance I still have to cover weigh me down.
