Ready to be home

It has been a bit since my last post. I made it to Washington state and after a couple days of not doing much I started. I ordered two uhaul pods to be delivered but when they called they couldn’t be delivered for several days unless I hired a mover and he could. So I did that. It was worth it! He brought the pods singally and packed them up. Almost all my stuff fit but some things went to the car and a chair and a suitcase stayed. Oh well.

Nala at the airport

Nala has done very well. She escaped once out of her carrier as we were in the jetway boarding but did well during the flight. She had a little help with some calming medication, but I was impressed. She was quite a ham walking around on her leash and lots of people wanted to pet her and take pictures, so she is now famous! She just laid down in the midst of it all and cleaned herself.

She has been really good at my friend Dianne’s. She was gracious enough to let us stay. She has been very calm, especially with her 4 year old granddaughter. She follows everyone one around like a little shadow. Dianne and I have had some nice time together as well.

Now it is time to head home, and I am ready. I have been a little grouchy today with last-minute things, but we are packed and ready. Nala has no idea what is coming, but she knows something is up, so sticking close by. I was able to see a few friends and the kids and grandkids, of course.

I tried to make a credit card purchase, and after a couple of calls to the fraud department, I found out someone is using my social security number, so I will have to figure that out when I get there. Car and home owner insurance are now in my name, and I changed my address on my credit cards and my bank accounts. Still have more things, but I’m taking it a little at a time. Doing what I have the energy and strength for.

More to come, but for now, I am going to enjoy the 22 1/2 hour drive as much as possible. My friend Beverly has graciously agreed to help me drive. It will be fun to spend time together and share some fun memories.

  1. Nala is sure a cool cat! Glad to have a chance to have dinner with you on your last night here in WA. You held your ‘grouchy’ in check very well. I know your going to survive the rest of your journey to your lovely home in Arizona.

If you contact the 4 credit reporting agencies and lock your credit, no one can open an account in your name even if they have your social security number. It is a bit of a hassle to unlock if you ever apply for a loan but doable. I locked ours about 20 years ago after I read about a woman who took 2 years to unravel the problems someone caused by opening accounts in her name. It is free for those over a certain age…can’t remember what age.

  3. Safe travels!! Please be conscious of the daytime heat here in PHX area. Unloading during lowest temperatures is key. Hydrate, & maybe hire some help unloading.
