Approaching a new year

X-ray waiting area

This week started out busy. I did laundry and cleaned the apartment, went in to work, and took things out of the freezer for the next day at La Soupe restaurant.  It was a quiet Christmas. I had wrapped a gift for myself from my parents as well as an advent calender of christmas ornaments for my little tree and my sister gave me a christmas advent calender to open every day, but otherwise no gifts, but that is ok because now I just buy things I want for myself.

On Tuesday, I worked my short shift, but it was super slow. Many people are off work this week. Afterwards, I finally got my finger x-rayed from back in August when I may have broken it. Took me time to decide I needed to have it checked out and then more time to get an appointment for the x-ray. It’s probably too late to do anything, but I will at least know.

Ready for BodyPump

Taught my last body pump class of the year on Tuesday as well. The new release is tough but good. The first time, I felt like I had been driven over by a truck, and the second time, it was not much better. I am sore, but it is a good sore. I need to do better in the coming year. Eating better and taking care of my body. It’s not a new year’s goal but a life goal!

Me, Nathalie and Magnus at the game

Wednesday, I drove up to Växjö to see my childhood friend Nathalie and her husband Magnus. They had invited me up to watch an ice hockey game with the Växjö Lakers. I had said something about it before. They love going and it sounded so fun. I remember my friends Deanna and Lauri and I going to a game in Arizona and we had so much fun. Hope to do it again sometime.

Magnus and I

They had gotten great seats just a few rows up from the goal. It was amazing! We were near the big fan club group of people, which made it even more fun. They had drums, chanted, and sang. It was a wonderful experience. With our seats so close, we got to see the faces of the players as they crashed against the plexiglas. They won and it was a good match with lots of power plays and a couple of penalties on the other team. A couple fights but nothing major.

Woke up with a migraine.  Had one last night as well, so I’m not surprised. Have not had one for quite a while. It’s time to book the chiropractor.  Traveling back home under rainy conditions. Would have been nice to take the train today, but I have the car. So upwards and onwards to the new year!

  2. Wishing you a great 2023. We had a similar Christmas. Bob didn’t want to go anywhere so gift to ourselves was a bread maker. Has been a few stressful weeks but things are slowly getting better. Haven’t attended Vasa since you left but hope to one of these months. Being a caregiver is not fun, very confining. Everything has to be planned and I am not a planner. lol. Thanks for keeping us informed with your wonderfully newsy snippets of what you are doing.
