It has been a warm few days. Not warm by some standards but warm for the Nordics. We had a high of 86° F today and tomorrow is predicted at 81°. My apartment gets full afternoon sun so it gets pretty warm. I hung up my light blocking curtains to keep the heat out and it worked fantastic!! My apartment was a lot cooler than it would have been without.

I did get a chance at a regular apartment rental. I had a walk around there to see how it felt. It was close to bus transportation, not far from where I currently live so I am familiar with the area but it just didn’t feel like home so I declined. I was number 20 in line anyway so my chances were not great to begin but it needs to feel right. I did enjoy exploring a different part of town I had not spent much time in. I also got a call about another temporary place from a friend so I look forward to seeing it soon.

My friend and I have been taking about going to Denmark for a while now. We both have our summer Skåne transportation cards which allows us to go anywhere in Skåne for two months (June 15- Aug 15) for one price. It is a fabulous deal for 749 sek about $75 I can go lots of new and exciting places. I have already traveled for the cost of the card and I still have almost a month left to use it!

There are so many choixes where to go so it is hard to decide where and to fit it into my plans. This morning my friend and I had an early morning planned but I was dehydrated from yesterday. I woke up with a headache, nauseated and just tired. I called my friend to discuss what she wanted to do and so glad we decided to give it a go. We decided to take it one step at a time, see how the train ride went and then decide how we felt as we went along

The plan was to take the 9:32 train for me, my friend would get on at the next stop and we would ride the 1 hr 5 minute train ride up to Helsingborg. From there we could take the ferry to Helsingør, Denmark or go to the tropical beach nearby and swim. We choose the ferry. So did loads of other people but it was a big boat so we got on right away. We rode the 20 minute ferry ride over. We ate 2 red hot dogs (that is what they are called on the menu) on the way there because we were getting hungry.

We got off the ferry into the cutest town ever. We walked down one of the main streets. Stopped in a clothing shop, cheese shop and then decided to get a cool drink and a pastry and sit in a quiet shady spot to rest. I still was not feeling super but making it.

We had a break and discussed what to do next. We both wanted to get some cheese from the cheese shop. We needed it to last for the journey home so we needed a cooler bag and something cold to keep it cool. We went into a local small mall and found a cooler bag right away. We took a potty break and then to the grocery store for ice packs.

We found some great buys in the grocery store. I bought a couple pairs of jeans for 199 danish kronor and a few other things. We shopped more here than anywhere else. We bought some frozen veggies for our cooler to keep our cheese cool and headed to the cheese store. I got aged Havarti (known as stinky cheese to my family members) and blue cheese. We made a couple other stops and decided we were ready for the ferry back. We had a shrimp sandwich on the 20 minute ride over, got to our train and headed home.

Everything flowed and was well timed. At the end we didn’t have energy left for bathing. It was a perfect day. Good company and just the right amount of activity. Couldn’t have asked for things to be better. I came home, took a nap, ate some stinky cheese on knäckebröd (crisp bread) and got on my relationship zoom call. I will be glad to have a rest day tomorrow but so grateful for the time together with my dear friend.
